Wismec Rx200 Review

Wismec Rx200The original mod was the DNA 200 Realeux, and was expensive as it was one of the high-end mods. Wismec however, emerged with a new product to suit users requirements, which was the Rx200. It adopts the same design as the DNA 200, and Wismec claims that the Rx200 chip performs better than the DNA 200. This would be a bold claim to make, seeing as DNA chips were always known for its performance, and of course it’s high price. The Rx200 regulates power by its digital switch mode DC-DC converter. It uses 3 18650 batteries to run, and features cell by cell battery monitoring and integrated balance charger. The Rx200 also supports temperature control including stainless steel, nickel, and titanium wires with a 0.70 inch OLED screen display. Wismec has also announced that the firmware can be upgradable in the future when updates are released.

Price

The Rx200, despite looking exactly the same as the DNA 200, costs only about 40$ USD to 60$ USD. This is one of the cheapest mods available in the market, yet has so many features. It is one of the cheapest triple battery box mod in the market.

Features

Wismec Rx200 featuresThe Rx200 box came with only three things, which is the Rx200 vaporiser mod itself,  a micro USB cable, and a user manual. When the DNA 200 first hit the market, many people were sceptical about it due to the weird triangular shape. One of the main features that I would like to emphasize is that the Rx200 is the cheapest mod in the market in terms of output and performance. It has a maximum output of 200 wattages! (Currently 250 wattages max with latest firmware) This makes it one of the most powerful box mods available at a cheap price.

Resistance as low as 0.05 ohms can be used, up to 3.5 ohms. With the advanced chipset, the Rx200 also has incredible temperature sensing and limiting capabilities. The Rx200 can be used with nickel, titanium, and stainless steel coil builds. It allows an adjustable temperature of between 200f to 600F (100C – 300C). In standard or variable wattage mode, the
device can be used with kantal wires at any ohms settings
within its range.

User Experience

Wismec Rx200 BoxOriginally, I had doubts about the Rx200 due to the bulky looking size and weight, as it is using 3 batteries. My first impression was a pretty good one seeing as the end product didn’t look anywhere close to as bulky as it looked like in pictures found online. In fact, the weight was lesser than most other mods such as the IPV 3 or the Sigeleis. The battery cover was magnetic and easy to pop out, allowing changing of batteries easily. This is the first mod of its kind to have a triangle shape, and to be honest it actually feels very good in the hand as it grips really well. Another quick note on appearances is that the ventilation holes are placed very well to flow with shape, which pretty much adds to a good ventilation, however what the Rx200 goes far and beyond is the release heat mechanism via 3 small vent holes on each side. Absolute gem when it comes to heavy usage!

Wismec Rx200 colorsIn the Rx200’s first release, we were only restricted to two options: black or white. Needless to say, with improvement, the wonderful Rx200 team added two more colors to choose from, which is a blackish red design, and a cyan white design. When I popped off the magnetic battery cover, the way the batteries are positioned is that two of them are sat at a negative side up with the positive down apart which then leaves space for the third battery which sits positive up and negative side down. This may look odd or sound slightly odd for new vapers, but no worries as the Rx200 has reverse polarity protection which means if the battery is put in a wrong way, it is not going to mess up the mod.

Wismec Rx200 compactAnother cool feature is that despite running on 3 batteries, the Rx200 does have USB charging capability, which makes it really convenient to charge or for emergency uses. Many users however, prefer to remove the batteries and charge it separately, which I would also recommend as it is safer and prolongs the battery life. On-board charging is very slow, and tends to mess up the battery cells. Another feature is that the Rx200 will recognize an imbalanced battery cell in the event that any one of the three battery cells hold a variance of approximately 0.3 volts. This is to ensure that users will make sure the batteries are even and paired.

The OLED display has a nice size and is clear and bright, making it easy to read. As the Rx200 could fire up to 200 watts, it literally supports all kinds of builds, as it also reads down to 0.05 ohms. I have tested my Rx200 using several builds, inc
luding builds as low as 0.10 ohms. What I have noticed is that even at high wattages (up to 180/195 watts), the Rx200 fires very evenly and doesn’t bounce. Bouncing means the changing of ohms and wattages at high wattages. This has known to happen with mods like the SnowWolf when firing at 200 watts.

The only drawback with the Rx200 that I could find is that it is not very portable due to its size and shape. It could not fit into pockets as it is quite bulky, and this may not be ideal for users who like portable mods. Other than that, the Rx200 is definitely a perfect mod for users who love powers.

Overall

I would highly recommend the Rx200 to users, even new users as it is very easy to use. In terms of price to performance wise, I would say there are no other mods in the market which could compare with the Rx200. Any other box mods with outputs up to 200 wattages or more would cost more. One thing that may deter users is the extra costs of batteries and chargers, as you would need three batteries and a 4 slot charger to charge it. This however, is countered by the cheap price of the Rx200! All in all, the Rx200 has crazy battery life, lasting me up to 2 days without charge at 50 watts. I would say this is a wonderful mod, with so many features which vapers love! Definitely give it a try and it will be your all day mod!
