The Vamo V5 is a very low priced PV MOD that runs as great as higher priced vaporizers. The Vamo has seen many revisions and the Vamo V5 is actually the body of a V2 with the Vamo V3 PCB circuit board with some extra improvements. Very sleek looking PV with a nice display and easy to use functions. The power variable controls are bit different but it remains a very powerful device at an entry level price point.

Build Quality
The body comes in a durable stainless steel brushed finish. Solid build, with good solid threads all around. A strong battery spring on the battery cap is another small improvement. We would like to have seen a bit more air venting for the battery but it does just fine without it. The body has an extension so you can use either a 18350 or 18650 battery for operation. One thing about this body, is the extension for 18650 makes it very long, but that is to be expected from devices outputting high power. When using a smaller battery, the smaller sized mod is much easier to handle and carry around.
The Vamo V5 uses eGo threads for full compatibility but one thing to note is that there are no airflow vents around the tank connection ring, and the 510 connector is just a few millimeters higher from being flush, allowing just a small amount of airflow. After testing a few flush tanks, we did not find it to be an issue. However, if you wish to have a tight seal or more airflow, you can simply add a very cheap upgrade called a ‘510 airflow controller’, which is a pair of washers and dial, that allows for air control as well as a sealed fit. Very cheap upgrade but makes the Vamo that much better; it can be found here for just $3.97. This should not deter anyone from purchasing the V5, simply because the device offers so much value for the cost, and the airflow controller is simply screwed on and any beginner can use it! Additionally, this should be considered optional, as the device performs optimally even without it.
The OLED horizontal display is bright blue and is pretty visible in daylight, a simple but very good contrast screen. A plus (right button) and minus (left button) button to control voltage and wattage up and down as well as a main fire button makes it standard with all the easiest to use MODs available. One very cool thing to note about this unit is the various finishes available to pick from. You can opt for either stainless steel or brass and the finish varies from brushed to chromed and even rainbow colored.
Power & Battery
The Vamo V5 MOD may not be expensive but it packs some punch with the original V3 PCB able to output 5 Amps. Fully Variable Voltage and Wattage, 3.0V to 6.0V in .1V increments and 3.0W to 15W in .5W increments. Power performance is there, hats off to the Vamo V5. For everyone else that is just looking for a solid everyday vaporizer, it fits the bill perfectly. With the right tank and an airflow controller, you can also use the this device to produce monster vapor clouds, if that is what you are into.
Although the Vamo V5 is not telescopic, it allows you to use a combination of 1 or 2 x 18350 batteries or 1 x 18650 battery by using a body extender, which is just an extra tube to be attached to the base and top. As mentioned, it does make this MOD on the long side. For a compact fit on the go, it’s actually great, but it seems the design has a bit of an extra space gap with the body extender attached. Either way, Allows you to use powerful batteries and atomizers are suggested to have a resistance of 1.5 to 5.0 ohms. The device does not suck the life out of the batteries and you can consistently surpass full days of usage.
Tanks & Cartomizers
The Vamo V5 is universally compatible with just about any tank with it’s solid threading and high output. Having ego 510 compatible threading allows you to use pretty much any tank you want, and with an 18650 the V5 has enough power for regular or dual coil tanks. Optional airflow control valves can be used to be able to better fine tune your puffing.
We mainly tested the V-Tank and CE4 Clearomizers included with the starter kits and found them to be fully satisfactory for our needs, but anyone that already carries their own favorite tank models can simply opt for the stand-alone PV, which still includes batteries. As mentioned, just about any tank will work, including dual atomizer tanks, making it a good model for users that want to have the most vapor production possible. We put to the test the Kanger dual coil and found it to be overpowering for our personal taste, but certainly impressive.
Ease of Use & Features
Another strong point of the Vamo V5, is how easy it is to use. Anyone starting out would have no trouble at all picking it all up very quickly. The OLED horizontal display is easy to read and the buttons are placed below. Hold the left button to display battery life or the right button to view atomizer ohm resistance. Power settings are accessed by holding both buttons down, and (-) scrolls while (+) selects the power mode between Volts and Watts. It’s that easy, no learning curve really, anyone can get into setting it quickly.
Another good feature is the capability of using RMS or Mean monitoring and RMS is the definitive winner, giving you accurate calibration and readings. All you need to do is hold the left button for 10 seconds to change modes. That’s about it, nothing out of the ordinary, but all the important features and performance specs are there to make this a great personal vaporizer.
Vamo V5 Kit
The unit can be purchased seperatly or as a full kit. If you already own tanks and an external battery charger, we suggest you purchase the standalone model which includes batteries, for just $25-30 over at fasttech.com. However, if you don’t you also have the option to purchase a starter kit for very little extra money. There’s 6 different starter kits to pick from, that mostly vary in color and finish, but also the choice between 2 x CE4 Atomizer tanks or 1 x V-Tank Clearomizer. Each kit includes batteries and a charger.
Kit Includes:
- 1 x Vamo V5 Personal Vaporizer
- 1 x Body Extension
- 2 x 18350 Batteries

Conclusion
The Vamo V5 is almost perfect. With the 510 airflow controller washers, it really makes this one of the best PVs I have. Considering it’s one of my cheapest ones in terms of cost, it also makes it a great value for your dollar purchase. A great investment for beginners and advanced users alike, and in my humble opinion, probably one of the best devices for first time PV users. You can’t go wrong for just $30. It makes for a great gift and is built to last. Our suggested merchant offers 45-Day no questions asked money-back guarantee, free of any re-stocking fees. and a 6 month return warranty on the hardware.
