Innokin does not release many products, nowhere near the number of products that Aspire, WISMEC, or Joyetech releases. However when they do release a new product, if feels complete and ready. Innokin usually takes time to release products, as they invested plenty of time into the design and execution. The Innokin Cool Fire IV of course, is the brand new mod from Innokin, and is their first product to feature 100 watts. There are major differences between this mod and other similarly priced mods, for example the temperature range of the Innokin Cool Fire IV is 300F to 600F, while most other mods are 200F to 600F. This mod however, does offers several features that are not found in other mods. I will get to these features and more in detail below.
Features
Here are some features worth pointing out in the Innokin Cool Fire IV;
- Temperature Control : The CoolFire IV features a temperature range of 300F to 600F, and works with nickel, titanium, and stainless steel wires.
- Wattage – Amperage – Voltage : starts from 6 watts to 100 watts, in 0.5 watts increment. This differs from many other mods which usually increases watts in 0.1w.
- Fast 2AMP charging with wall adapter : Innokin has made a super fast 2AMP / 5 Volt micro-USB charge circuitry, so even if the CoolFire IV runs out of battery, users wont be out of the game for long. With its 3200 mAh capacity the need to charge your battery doesn’t happen as quickly as the majority of other built-in battery mods. happens less often than it will with most other built-in battery mods. Note that to get the super fast charging, users will need Innokin’s wall adapter with the included USB cable.
One feature that I felt was really good is the pre-boost feature, which makes ramp up time almost instantly. Sometimes, mods have a slow ramp up time, however with the CoolFire IV, its click the fire button and inhale fast, no issues of the slow to vape experience.
Innokin also implemented a 3 colour lights, and may sound silly but it is the standard way for informing users about the battery level by using red, green, and yellow lights.
The display is of course, large and bright as it is an OLED screen. The display on this mod is larger than most other displays, and the font that they use is easy to see. The fire button is located just below the curve of the top of the device. The CoolFire IV is also a 3 click on and off device, unlike all other mods which requires 5 clicks.
Another cool feature that is really helpful is the coil calibration feature. For most other mods, users must press certain buttons to get into the menu system to change from temperature control to wattage, or vice versa. With this mod, every time users remove their atomizer and screw it back on, users are shown a screen that allows them to choose ‘same’ or different coils, allowing them to change the mode and specify the type of wire immediately.
User Experience
The Innokin Cool Fire IV has smooth curved slopes that makes the mod fit nicely into the palm of my hand, and the power button with the plus minus buttons are all easy to reach as it is in a vertical position under the display.
There are several features that I really liked about the CoolFire IV. One of it is the flashing lights which indicates the battery life, whereby it is easy to know how much battery you have left. The build of the mod itself is wonderful, it looks really nice and clean with a glossy look. Despite using it daily for more than a month, the paint job is still clean and has not chipped one bit.
I am also really liking the internal battery which has a capacity of 3300 mAh. That is enough to last users a full day, so they will not need to recharge it often. The CoolFire IV also comes with over charging protection, so users could just plug it and go to sleep, however this is not recommended. As the battery is built in, users who forget to charge it could find themselves at a disadvantage whereby they could not remove the battery and replace it with a fresh one. This however, will not be necessary as the CoolFire IV has fast charging, which I am a big fan of. I really like mods which charge fast, as I vape all the time and do not like waiting.
The CoolFire IV comes with a Aethon chip, which is fairly new for me, but I already liked it the moment I started using it. The Aethon chip gets to work in a fraction of a second, responding to my heat settings in about 0.3 seconds. Resistance readings are crazily accurate, up to the 5th decimal place!!
Overall, I really liked the look of it and the colour that I had chosen, which was a deep dark red colour. Performance of the chip is wonderful, and so far I have not gotten any issues with it yet. Buttons are all nice and tight, no rattling and clickity sounds.
Overall
As sophisticated as it is, I would gladly recommend this device to new vapers as well as advanced vapers. Advanced users will definitely enjoy the tremendous accuracy of the new technology, and new vapers will also enjoy the great look and ease of use. The price tag that it comes with is definitely reasonable, and deserves serious consideration.
