WOTOFO Chieftain 220 watts Review

The Chieftain is a mod that flew under the radar, and did not cause as much of a hype as it should have. This is mainly due to the fact that it launched right when the hy  pe train for the Wismec Rx200 was in full force, and caused it to mostly slip under the eyes of most vapers. Being one of the latest mods with power up to 220 wattages, this is a really interesting mod. Let us look at the features it offers in detail below.

Price

The Chieftain only retails for around $50 USD to $60 USD, fairly cheap for a mod with so much power. The box comes with the basic USB cable, a manual, and the mod itself.

Features

Unlike most other high powered mods, the Chieftain is capable of charging via the front mounted USB port, which I feel is very convenient in times of need. I wouldn’t recommend charging it through the USB port, but that is personal preference.
This mod comes with several handy features such as an OLED Screen, uses 2 18650 batteries, and such.

Features and Specifications:

  • 0.1 to 3.0 ohms VW – 0.06 to 2.0 ohms in TC
  • Temperature Range: 90°C – 343°C / 200°F – 650°F

  • Resistance, &  Voltage> It’s also rotatable!

User Experience

hqdefaultDespite being able to fire up to 220 watts, this mod actually feels compact and lightweight, and is easily one of my smallest dual 18650 mods. The construction is solid with zero play in the battery. The up and downs button however, have a bit of play, but I have to shake it pretty hard to get any rattling out of it. As for the fire button, it is extremely lovely with a beautiful titanium black finish, and is holding up really well after weeks of carrying it around and heavy usage. It has a satisfying click to it and is gorgeous.
Another nice feature is that the OLED display is sharp and clear, and it is also blue in colour which makes it stand out.

Batteries are released with a standard battery ribbon, and the battery door is held in place with two very large and very strong magnets. The door sits snugly enough that it can be difficult to tell from which side it is on based on a glance of the overall mod. Nevertheless, it does have a handy tab situated at the bottom of the mod so you can easily get a grip to pop it off. With regards to the design, the finish has been done so it feels slightly rubbery less so than a Sigelei 150 TC or Fuchai, but it still provides a rather good gripping surface. The drawback from the rubberized finish is that my mod has started to show some slight scratches from being carried inside my pockets. I suppose this could be regarded as basic wear and tear seeing as I also chuck my keys and coins in my pockets but it’s just a minor issue as the metal still doesn’t show.

Performance is superb, and I have no issues of any drops in performance all the way up to 220 watts. Note that I made a built down to 0.09ohms and fired it at 220 watts, but did not take a hit because it is too hot!

Overall

ryGp9trOverall, this mod is built like a tank packed with loads of power, and yet comes with a reasonable price. It has a clean and elegant design which I really like, and it also performs great in power mode or temperature control mode. If you are in the market for a dual 18650 mod, and temperature control is not a priority, this mod is definitely worth the price.
