Kanger Nebox Review

1The Kanger Nebox is an all in one kit made by the worldwide famous Kanger. Kanger has been known for their quality products, such as the Kanger Subtank Mini which has almost 8 million users world wide!! The Kanger Nebox is like an E-Grip with massive upgrades and features for both sub ohming and temperature control vaping. It comes with a massive in built 10 ml tank!! Also, the Nebox can fire up to 60 watts in wattage mode. The Nebox is Kanger’s first attempt at temperature mode. The package comes with new stainless steel vertical coils for wattage mode, and a 0.15ohm Nickel coil for temperature mode. Let us see whether the Nebox lives up to its hype.

Features & Specifications

The package comes with a single Kanger Nebox mod, with pre-installed nickel coils, a built in 10 ml tank, one mini rba coil, one stainless steel vertical coil, one USB charging cable, and one black battery cover.

User Experience

The new coils that comes in this package are no longer boxed shaped like all the previous Kanger coils. Users however, can still use the old coils in the Nebox, and the new coils are also backwards compatible with the older Kanger subtanks, which is quite a smart move from Kanger. One thing that made me confused was that the new stainless steel coils are actually nickel coils, but the coil house is manufactured from stainless steel. Hope all of this does not sound as confusing as it is to users since it really isn’t !

The recommended wattage range for the Nebox is between 15 watts to 50 watts. When firing it3 at 15 watts, there was extremely slow ramp up time, with barely any vapour coming out. At 20 watts, there was a wisp of flavour, but still no vapour. 30 watts showed tremendous improvements, as it produces nice cool clouds of vapour and decent flavour. At 35 watts, there was more vapour and a slightly more warmer vape, but the flavour is still slightly muted. Only at 40 watts, the flavour is better and the clouds are pretty huge, and this is probably where I would maintain the wattage at. Firing it at 50 watts, I got a slight burnt taste and I would recommend users not to go any higher than this. As for the Nickel coil 0.15 ohms head, it vaped really well in temperature mode. Seeing as it is Kanger’s first attempt at temperature control, it seem to worked out pretty well for them. Personally, I am not really a temperature control person, and would rather use stainless steel coils or standard kanthal coils, but this experience was quite good. The flavour was amplified greatly on temperature mode, and this is due to the nickel coil.

A cool feature that I really like is the 140 ml in built tank! By far the largest capacity tank ever seen in the vape world, this could last for ages without needing a refill. As I am an extremely heavy vaper, 10 ml lasted me about half a day before I needed a refill. For most casual vapers however, 10 ml could definitely last them for at least 2 days before they need a refill! Sub ohm users will definitely love this crazily huge capacity, as most sub ohm tanks could barely last half an hour without needing a refill due to their lack of capacity.

The settings itself is really easy to use, and of course it asks users whether they have changed a new coil when the atomizer is removed. Users have to always remember to select yes or no when they remove their atomizer! The Nebox will fire from the previous resistance if users did not select yes!

As for the looks itself, it actually looks quite good and simple, just the way I like it. The colours are simple and gorgeous, not trying to be hip or cool with bright colours. As for ease of use, new vapers would find it crazily easy to use it, whereby all you need is some liquid to fill the tank up and you are good to go!

One feature that I find is really unappealing and dumb is the battery cover. This is one of the biggest flaw with this device, whereby the battery cover needs to be unscrewed using a coin. Despite not seeming like a big issue as it does not affect performance whatsoever, I know that most vapers including myself are lazy and impatient, and dislike the hassle of screwing and unscrewing the battery cover. The paint on the battery cover will also start flaking off after a few times due to the constant twisting.

Another major issue is that there is no air flow control option on the Nebox, and this makes it more restrictive for users. The air flow is located at the bottom of the mod, and users who like having air flow preferences may find this disappointing. One compromising thing for having a tank built into a mod is that it is really tricky to clean it. As it is in built, users have to be extremely careful not to get any water into the electrical parts of the mod!

Overall

Overall, I really enjoyed using the Nebox, and it actually turned out to be one of my all day mods due to the crazy tank capacity and ease of use. The price itself is also very competitive, retailing at only around $60 USD for an all in one box mod! The size is nice and easy to fit in a pocket, another reason that it became my all day mod. The only type of users that the Nebox may not be suitable for are the mouth to lung vapers, as the Nebox has no airflow control. However, I am sure that most vapers prefer lung draws would love this!
