One of the latest mods to hit the market, the IPV D 3 is a upgraded version of the IPV D2, and has several new features. Despite being small and using only a single 18650 battery, the D3 boasts an output of 80 watts and a full range of temperature control settings including titanium and nickel modes. It fires down to 0.05 ohms, suitable for any kinds of tank builds or atomizers out there.
What’s in the box?
The IPV D3 package comes with:
- 1x iPV D3 Device
- 1x Micro USB cable
- 1x User Manual
- 1x Gift Box
Features
The iPV D3 has very similar features to the iPV D2. One of the new features implemented is the maximum output of 80 watts, compared to 75 watts
on the D2. Not only that, but the D3 could could support resistance as low as 0.05 ohms. It functions with a built-in YIHI Sx150h chip, one of the best chips around in the market. YIHI chips are known for their reliability and durability, and could last years without having any problems.
The D3 also features a magnetic battery cover, making it much easier to open and close to replace batteries. It also has temperature control ranging from 212F to 572F, more than enough for users who like hot vapes. It comes in four colours, silver, black, blue, or white, and I had gotten the black unit as I prefer dark colours.
User Experience
Pros ( Advantages )
My first impression upon receiving the iPV D3 was that the box was really small, so I was sceptical about it being good to hold, and whether or not it could produce the output required for my usual coil builds. After using it for several weeks however, I find it becoming my daily vape, as it is really small and easy to carry around. I really liked the size of it, as it is fairly small, easy to pocket, and light in weight. It runs using only a single 18650 battery, yet packs a punch with up to 80 watts of power, enough for sub ohm users. I personally run my mod at about 30 watts to 40 watts, depending on my ohms which is usually 0.6 ohms and below. I am using a black unit and it looks extremely sleek with any black drippers or tanks. The IPV D3 also features temperature control, and is compatible with nickel wire and titanium alloy wire. This gives users a variety of wires which they could use.
I am satisfied with the hand grip feeling of the mod despite its small size. The screen is a OLE
D screen which is bright and clear, and users will have no problems seeing it under sunlight and in darkness, unlike some mods and smartphone screens.
One thing that I forgot to mention is that, all iPV mods are extremely durable and performs perfectly. I currently own many iPV mods, including the iPV3 Li, iPV4s, iPV D3, iPV 2. One reason is due to the extreme durability of it, whereby I have dropped many of my iPV mods onto hard concrete surfaces, and once into a swimming pool, but a quick clean and its good to go. iPV mods are ideal for clumsy users who tend to drop their mods.
Cons ( Disadvantages )
There are some minor drawbacks which I discovered after several weeks of usage. One major drawback is the paint on it. The black paint on my unit seems to wear off after several weeks of major usage, particularly around the fire button and the battery cover. This problem could easily be solved with a silicon cover or stickers, and does not affect the usage of the mod whatsoever. Another drawback is that both the iPV D3 and iPV D2 uses a special kind of micro cable, and not the typical Android cable which almost all mods use for in-built charging. This however, is a much safer way to charge vaporisers, but may be an inconvenience to users who tend to lose cables and such.
Another disadvantage is that as it only uses a single 18650, users who sub ohm or chain vape all day will find themselves facing a battery problem. Battery life depends on the type and brand of batteries that users use, and firing it at high watts will drain the battery life faster. I would say the iPV D3 is more of a tank-mod, whereby tanks tend to require lower wattages to fire.
Overall
In my opinion, users who prefer convenience and portability over bulkiness and power would most definitely love this mod. The main reason that I got it was because I needed a mod which had enough power and is small and easy to carry. With 80 watts, the D3 definitely gives enough output for sub-ohming. As it uses a single 18650 battery, it is safe to charge it through a cable, and this makes it more convenient to charge it on the go. I think it’s safe to say that the D3 will last for years without any major problem, and would highly recommend it.
