iPV 3 Li Review

The iPV 3 Li is currently one of the best dual battery box mods available in the market, yet is extremely underrated. The iPV 3 Li is extremely similar to the iPV 3, however there are loads of new features in this new Li version. I will be going through all the features in details below, so read on to find out what’s the hype about this mod!

Price

ipv3The iPV 3 Li is retailed at approximately 70$ USD to $80 USD, depending on different websites. This may seem a bit costly for users who do not want to spent too much for a good box mod, however once users have full knowledge of what it can do and how it performs, the price will seem justified.

The box comes with the mod itself, a USB cable, and a user manual and some extra screws, nothing special, just what you’d expect out of a vaporiser package.

Features

First off, the iPV 3 Li has a removable battery door that slides on and off, which is a joy to used. This differs greatly from the original iPV 3 whereby users have to unscrew 4 screws in order to change the batteries, which becomes quite frustrating after a while. This is quite significant especially for a mod which requires the batteries to be removed for charging. Despite being a version down from the iPV 4, I personally feel that this is a lot safer than the iPV 4’s plastic door because when fastened, the door would be strong enough to withstand batteries venting.

ipv33Temperature control is another main feature of the iPV 3 Li, whereby the iPV 3 had no such function. The iPV 3 Li supports both titanium and nickel wires, making it quite a significant upgrade compared to the iPV 3. Temperature control helps users to prevent dry firing, which occurs when the cotton is dry. Dry firing produces a burnt taste and smell, and usually ends in a bout of coughing and choking. The iPV 3 Li however, does not state why it is not firing on the screen can be rather confusing for new users for the first few times, however this is still a big plus rather than inhaling a lungful of burnt vapour.

As for the screen, the iPV 3 Li has a better advanced screen which gives all the info required with clean visuals. It has a much higher resolution compared to the old iPV 3. Another new cool feature that I want to mention is that the iPV 3 Li has an active infrared firing button on the top, whereby you just have to place your finger on it to fire. This I feel, is important as it reduces the wear and tear on the regular firing button. Although the iPV 3 had an infrared firing button, it is inactive and could not be used.

User Experience

When I first got my iPV 3 Li, I felt that it was a little too bulky for the hand. The iPV 3 Li is by far the biggest mod that Pioneer had made, even bigger than the iPV 4. After a few days of usage however, I became acquainted to the feeling of it, and it fits snugly in the palm of my hands. I tested the iPV 3 Li with many different build to test the performance of the in-built YIHI chip, and as expected of Pioneer, the chip performed wonderfully. Even with builds as low as 0.10 ohms, I fired it at 145 watts, almost the maximum output, and yet it fired it wonderfully. This mod is meant for users who like high powered mods, and also reasonable battery life. Using dual Samsung 25rs batteries, it lasted me for almost a full day, firing at 60 watts (higher than average).

After using it for a few months, I haveipv34 to say the  iPV 3 Li is an extremely solid piece of work. As I  am a clumsy user, I tend to drop my mods all the  time. I had dropped my iPV 3 Li from table level  many times, even onto concrete surfaces, and  other than minor scratches, it still worked  perfectly. In temperature control mode, the iPV 3  Li seems to be extremely sensitive to changes, and  this would be beneficial to users. The overall built  of course, is higher quality compared to the iPV 3.  Despite not having many new cool features, the  changes in the iPV 3 Li is important and necessary,  and is all that is needed for vapers.

There are however, several minor drawbacks which may frustrate users. One thing that I have felt slightly irritated about is that due to the new temperature control settings added, it is a bit of a hassle to navigate through the menu. Another thing of course, is the size of it makes it inconvenient to lug it around, and would not fit in an average pocket. Depending on users needs, it can be everything they need or overkill.

ipv32Another slight drawback is that there it is not USB rechargeable, which may be a disadvantage for some users. Despite having a USB port, that is only for firmware updates (new update to increase to 165 watts), and not for USB charging. When it was first released, there was no mods which supported such a high wattage together with USB charge.

Overall

ipv35In my opinion, the iPV 3 Li is built extremely solid, and is durable, lasting users for a few good years without any issues. For those who like high power and good hand grip, this would definitely be a perfect mod. Wit
h a maximum output of 165 watts (updated firmware), this mod is perfect for making sweet clouds and lasting users at least a full day before needing to charge. Quality is superb, and the only major drawback would be the simple design, as it is the exact same model as the iPV 3.
