Sigelei 213 watts Review

The Sigelei 213 is a new mod by Sigelei made to reclaim their past glory. The Sigelei 150 watts was a major hit in the vaping world due to the plain fact that it was a great combination of performance, a wide variety of features and a steal of a price. Its follow up, the Fuchai 200 watts, was however safe to say quite a disappointment among several vaping enthusiasts and I can back that one up for you guys. After that downfall, Sigelei really had to change things up in order to help make its next device a hit which led to the Sigelei enlisting the aid of San Jose, California’s Suprimo Vape. This inevitably resulted in the Sigelei 213, a sweet sleek box mod with some very interesting features.

Features & Performances

Sigelei-213-both-colorsThe Sigelei 213 has all the features that you would expect from a modern box mod. As the name suggests, it is listed to be able to fire up to 213 watts, which is more than enough power for most vapers. Even for hardcore vapers, firing at anything more than 200 watts will be extremely hot, and it will probably drain the batteries in a matter of minutes. It’s a sleek look temperature control device which can handle the usual nickel, titanium, and stainless steel coils in TC mode, and kanthal and nichrome in wattage mode. The Sigelei 213 runs on two 18650 batteries, and the wattage ranges from 10 watts to 213 watts, while the temperature range is 100 C to 300C, or 200F to 570F.

It is made from a combination of both carbon fibre and alloy, which is what gives it the sleek and cool look. Coming in two different colours, a mysterious grey and a flashy gold, it looks really good on the outside. As for the size, the Sigelei 213 is fairly small compared to most other dual battery mods, and the weight itself is almost significantly lighter. The closest mod with that kind of weight and size will be the Joyetech Cuboid, both with similar dimensions.
While most of the features stated are defaults for current vaping devices, the Sigelei 213 has a few other features that will help it stand out from the crowd.

One of the most notable features of the Sigelei 213 is power up function. This allows vapers to quickly ramp up or down the power for their vape. What this means is that it can be used to preheat a coil quickly, whereby vapers can set power up to fire at 120 watts for one second, before returning to the 70 watts setting on the device. This is really useful for vapers who like making fancy builds which takes a long time to ramp up. Even so, this features allows all sorts of interesting possibilities.

Another outstanding feature is how it contains both TCR (which stands for temperature coefficient of resistance) and TFR (which stands for temperature factor of resistance) modes. For TCR, it is popping up in more and more vaping devices, while TFR is still relatively uncommon.

According to the engineers of the Sigelei 213, TFR potentially allows for a more accurate and consistent form of temperature control. As I myself am not too sure what this means, my interpretation of TFR is that it works on a curve, while TCR works linearly. Another feature that is interesting is that the Sigelei 213 shows output in amps, which is an extremely useful feature, and I think that all regulated mods should have it.

User Experience

12940176_776774305788740_634261636_nFirst of all, let’s talk about battery doors. Ever since the launch of the TC 150, Sigelei has undeniably been on a big hit for loose battery doors that were barely being held together by pathetically cheap and weak magnets (the ultimate burn for a company’s reputation). As a game changer, Sigelei’s introduction of the 213 has made its break away from that awkward impression and that ongoing trend of expecting cheaply made products as the Sigelei operates through a spring loaded bottom door. When it comes to holding the batteries, they’re held securely and firmly by springs which avoid any issues with rattling and insecure batteries. Adding to all of this positive light, the battery sled tubes are generously wide enough to accommodate batteries with a thicker wrapping so you won’t have to worry too much about battery compatibility issues which is what the Cuboid is facing.

Speaking of rattle, there’s virtually zero button rattle. The button responsible for firing up some action has a nice firm grip to it and is very responsive with a simple click to the job.  The up and down buttons are also secure that you won’t be hearing any awkward sounds that sounds that give off the impression of a loose fit which further amplifies how the Sigelei 123 is definitely a quality product which has been given some very nice finishing touches.

While I’m on a rant about how awesome this mod is, I really got to give some brownie points (no pun intended here) for its display. Unlike many other mods where you have to squint your eyes to read the readings or when the sunlight touches the display you won’t be able to read it, the Sigelei 123 is very bright and easy to read with the benefit of containing a ton of useful information for your perusing. In terms of user friendliness, the display has a battery life bar so you can always check that you’re loaded for a good vape session as well as a wattage and temperature setting and coil resistance. Not to mention, it includes a real time voltage monitoring system on both cells separately. The display additionally shows the percentage of your battery life (so you don’t have to solely rely on the bar alone) as well as the voltage. What I find amazing about this is the complete elimination of having to do all the premeditation in order to guess how much stress is being put on the batteries. It comes in handy and I do wish many other mods offer this real time display.Sigelei-213-B-696x464

The Sigelei 123 has a really neat compact size which is significantly smaller than what I had expected. The size is close to a Cuboid with the slight exception of its width however the Sigelei is a whole lot lighter than the Cuboid which is brilliant for portability.

The Sigelei has a nice spring loaded 510 which is positioned nicely on the back from the edges which makes the 25mm atomizers look at a great spot without any overhang. The only drawback I have (albeit quite minor and subjective) is how the spring loaded 510 sits opposite to the fire button which, in my opinion, should have been designed to be on the same side due to firing up my mods with the index finger (kind of like a gun). Like I said, personal preference but many people really don’t mind using their thumbs anyway.

Overall

Overall, I have to say that I am quite impressed with this mod. It really is pleasantly surprising and ultimately nice to see Sigelei stepping up the quality of their mods again, and with several new features too. For users who loved the old Sigelei 150, this mod will definitely be a hit as it has everything the 150 has, with much more to offer.
