The size and lightweight design of the Atmos Junior make it a convenient portable vape pen. Currently, it is available for $50 USD and even less thanks to amazing online offers and discounts. It should be noted that the Atmos Junior is not suitable for vaping dry herbs. The included honeycomb screen doesn’t allow herbs to heat enough to make them good for vaping. However, if you don’t use the honeycomb screen the herbs would burn as they would be in direct contact with the heating element.
Another downside of the Atmos is that after continuous use for a few months, it stops fully charging and the heating element doesn’t get hot enough to allow you to vape. Moreover, the LED light indicator becomes unreliable as it turns on an off intermittently for no apparent reason. As a result, you won’t be able to tell if the unit is heating up or not. Although the unit is small and can be easily carried, the performance issues mean that we are not able to recommend it. There are other portable options available that are durable and that offer a better experience, particularly if you are looking for a herb vaporizer.
You can get better results vaporizing wax and liquids, although the vapor quality is not exactly impressive. The Atmos is designed to be easy to use and you just need to press down on the blue power button on the side of the unit in order to start heating it. As noted before, there are some issues with the blue light and it doesn’t provide an exact indication of whether the coils are heating or not. To get to the chamber, you will need to screw off the top of the rubber mouthpiece. The coils heat quickly, which a good thing if you are planning in using the Atmos Junior while you are on the go.
In spite of the issues experienced, there are a few positive things about the Atmos Junior that are worth noting. First of all, the unit looks well and the customer service is responsive and efficient. Although as mentioned, in our experience, this vape is not good for use with dry herbs, other users have suggested some alternatives. Apparently, if you hold the button down for a while, you should be able to vape dry herbs, even if using the screen. The problem is that this is not ideal and the vape doesn’t hold much anyway.
Another good aspect of the Junior is its charging system, which works well. To charge it, you will have to unscrew the rubber mouthpiece from the top Junior. Then, unscrew the heating chamber, being careful with the glass screen located in side. The screen is so small that it could get easily lost. The adapter can be attached to the battery by screwing it in and then the two parts can be connected to the wall charger included. Alternatively, the USB can be plugged into an laptop’s USB port or any other similar device. Unfortunately, as previously noted, after months of use, the unit stops charging properly.
Overall
We really wanted to like the Atmos Junior as the company is reliable and the customer service is great. However, it just wasn’t up to our standards and we hope that in the future, the issues are addressed. In the meantime, if you are looking for a portable vaporizer that lets you vape all materials without issues, try the Pax 2, which is a great option for outdoor activities or the Haze Dual Bowl Vaporizer. This alternative allow you to vape not only dry herbs, but also e-liquids and concentrates. It is possible to vape dry herbs with conduction and convection methods. Plus, it comes with two external rechargeable lithium ion batteries that offer up to one hour of continuous use.
