Newcomers to the electronic cigarette world may think it overwhelming; the thought of cleaning their beloved e-cig tanks for the first time. Halo Cigs uses such tanks and they are commonly known as Triton Tanks and they also have the smaller G6 Mini Tanks. There are so many video tutorials on the Web, although some of these make the procedure more confusing than it actually is. The first thing to know, is that all these tanks are more or less the same, so this guide applies to all of them, but keep in mind that mini tanks do not come apart from the atomizer, it is all disposable, and should only be cleaned until the atomizer is spent.
Cleaning out this tank isn’t all that complicated; all you need is a few minutes of your time and some basic household items (and possibly a replacement coil, if needed). If your Triton tank has been used for a long time, you may have to change the coil and put in a new atomizer coil. All you have to do to achieve this is unscrew the component and discard it.
Cleaning
Here are the things you need to do to wash out your Triton tank, G6 Mini tank, or any other similar hardware:
Part 1
- Disassemble all pieces and remove the atomizer coil and wicks if applicable.
- Run your parts under running warm water until you have flushed out all the e-liquid
- Use paper towel to dry off the parts a first time.
Part 2
- Fill a large bowl with water water. Don’t run too hot.
- Place these parts in the warm water. Agitate the water and shake the parts while they are submerged to remove remaining e-liquid.
- Rinse all three parts (the mouthpiece, coil, and tank) thoroughly and then shake off the water. Use paper towels to dry these off completely.
- Let it air dry for a day or use a cool temperature hair dryer to speed the process.
Part 3
- Clean your battery contact with a toothpick, paper towels and rubbing alcohol. (You will notice that the center of the contact will have built gunk, the tooth pick and paper towel with rubbing alcohol do a good job and getting it all out.)
- Clean the outside casing of your battery with rubbing alcohol and let it dry.
- Once dry, assemble the pieces. Fill up the tank with the recommended amount of liquid and put the battery back in.
Take note that this will not completely remove the previous flavor but after re-filling the tank, and letting it sit for a day or two, only the first few puffs will have remnants of the previous juice. It remains just as important to clean them properly for sanitary reasons. Some will suggest that you dump your pieces and tanks in pre-boiling water, and a video shows someone doing so, but after testing ourselves, we did not find it very effective. It’s also a bad idea to dump plastic pieces, so if you still do it, try to avoid putting in plastic and use a wooden spoon.
Changing Your Atomizer Coil
It is recommended that you change your atomizer once every couple of weeks. However, clean-up shouldn’t be that frequent for the average user. If you start getting a burnt taste when using your smokeless vaporizer e-cig, that usually occurs after the atomizer is ready to be replaced. Detach said coil and slightly push up the rubber cap. Carefully pull on the wick and check for black spots that indicate burning. Burnt spots may require the replacement of coil. Otherwise, put the wick back where it was by pulling. Put the mouthpiece back on and allow the whole assembly to rest for a while so that the wicks absorb the liquid completely.
Cleaning your Triton tank allows you to extend the lifespan of the component and enhance your smoking experience. Follow these basic steps and your tank (and e-cig) will last longer and produce a satisfactory throat hit.
