5 Mistakes New E-Cig Users Should Avoid

We are almost all guilty of a few faux pas when we first start vaping e-cigarettes, especially regarding locations. This use to happen more often before so many public space bans came into effect across multiple states, as well as public fear due to misrepresentation on the media. We sometimes even have to deal with criticism from friends, family or even complete strangers whom may be lacking some education on the topic of electronic cigarettes. However, sometimes the person behind the vaporizer is at fault of being obnoxious or disregarding. If you manage to anger or bother others, it can only attract more negative energy with no benefit, and although often mundane, these acts should be avoided.

1. Vaping Anywhere, Next to Anyone

I have said it before, and I will say it again. Regardless of them being smokeless cigarettes, you should avoid vaping nearby other people without their permission. Even if you’re at a friend’s house, ask them first if it’s ok to vape indoors, not everyone feels the same about their safety, and for now we have to respect that.

Worse is when we see users disregarding tight public spaces. Even if you are in a location that allows you to vape, you don’t need to be blowing it in anyone else’s face. Make sure you are in a clear area where the vapor will not condense and possibly bother other non-vapers and non-smokers.

Just as importantly, don’t vape where it is not permitted and opt for stepping outside instead. This will avoid any complaints, unwanted attention or aggressive remarks thrown your way, all while keeping a good image for the whole community.

2. Hidding in Washrooms to Vape

Sticking to the same idea of not vaping where you are not supposed to, taking a quick sneaky trip to the bathroom is not acceptable. New users might sometimes be embarrassed to use their e-cig in front of others and opt to hide in a stall instead. First and foremost, you should be proud to have switched from tobacco smoking. There is nothing to hide and everything to celebrate about instead. Deal with any criticism by being polite and acknowledging it, simply don’t feed back or argue, it may be pointless depending on who you are speaking with.

Additionally, you may set off a smoke alarm if it happens to be right above your head, such as sometimes found in stalls. This could get you kicked out of the establishment, causing even more embarrassment that you could have imagined. Additionally to also possibly bothering others, constantly going to the washroom could cause people to take notice and think the worst, such as possible drug usage or not feeling well, they will eventually ask you if something is wrong! Just don’t do it already!

3. Leaving Your E-Cig or Dispensed Cartridges in Reach of Children or Pets

We have covered these types of safety issues before and explained the importance of careful storage as well as the toxic nature of nicotine, but an important and dangerous common mistake new users make, is to leave behind their e-cigarette on a table somewhere in reach of a possible child or animal. It is very important to never leave e-liquid bottles around more than anything, as the concentrated and big amount of nicotine liquid could kill of poisoning. You do not want to be responsible for such an incident. Never leave your vaporizers, cartridges or bottles hanging anywhere. Always stored safely away.

Leaving your garbage behind is also a big mistake. Whether you are using a disposable model of smokeless cigarettes, or if you have finished off a replaceable cartridge, you should not leave it either. We would even go as far as suggesting to disposing of it safely back at home. You never know if a cat or dog might go through someone else’s garbage and ingest it. Plus, being green and recycling is always a good deed.

4. Constantly Preaching About E-Cigs

Alright, so you have been able to join millions of others into becoming completely smoke free by switching over, but nobody wants to hear you constantly run your mouth about it. If they ask you about it, than definitely share your experience and knowledge. There is so much information to share, such as the different devices, brands, VG and PG e-liquids and all the best flavors, but you don’t need to keep reminding everyone about how great they are, especially smokers.

New users have a tendency to try and pull smokers into using them, and you shouldn’t do that. Let them make their own judgement and choices. More importantly, don’t criticize them or talk down as if you never we’re a smoker yourself. Other smokers can use encouragement, but only when asked. You will do no good by pointing out the bad smell and health dangers and warnings they already constantly get bombarded with. The same applies for anyone that tries to criticize you for using them. If someone gives you an uneducated opinion on vaping, just ignore them.

5. Blowing Huge Clouds of Vapor

With a spiked increase in high powered and much bigger variable personal vaporizer mods,  we have even seen vapor cloud competitions start to occur with the younger crowd user-base. Although we think it’s cool and all, some recent studies suggest modifying or using high voltage vaporizers can possibly increase formaldehyde levels near those or tobacco cigarette smoke. It is important to note the results remained a little inconclusive and affected PG based e-liquids in majority. With that said, we do suggest traditional e-cigarette and eGo models with disposable cartridges for the ultimate safety levels. Since those models have been tested in various scientific reviews and studies, we know what to expect from them. So what does this have to do with new e-cig users and misusing them?

Well, if you’re standing around others and blowing these huge cloud vapors, you are most likely bothering a whole lot more people that you can possibly impress. The large clouds are certainly going to cause some people to be uncomfortable. Again, it goes back to just be respectful of everyone’s space. If doing smoke shows and smoke rings is your thing, no sweat, just do it in a very open space or away from others.

The reason these devices are so great, is because it they are a viable, functional and effective alternative to smoking. It has the potential to be used and developed into a better cessation device and although not sold as such, many users switch and reduce nicotine intake gradually, some to a complete stop. It’s totally ok to have fun with it, just make sure you don’t risk bothering anyone or giving vaping a bad image.
