Remember the days when you would hit the bar pub or nightclub and everyone was lighting up cigarettes? If you we’re a smoker, you didn’t have to be bothered to go outside and for cold winter climates, that certainly made many smokers happy. Those days we’re not all that, smoker or not, we were all exposed to an unhealthy amount of second hand smoke and by the time we would get home, every piece of clothing on us reeked of tobacco cigarette smell.
As a musician, my instruments and keyboard would also suffer from the horrible smell, but even worse, the smoke residue would dirty the electronic components, requiring periodical professional cleaning to keep in working order. It was nasty and helped open my eyes to how bad smoking really was for my health. I am glad to see cigarette smoking banned from all public spaces.
When vaping was starting to become popular, users like myself would whip out my e-cig during outings at bars and clubs and at first patrons and owners would mistake it for a real cigarette, which was both amusing and bothersome. It was difficult to vape comfortably because you would either get looked at weird or curious onlookers would approach you and literally ask you to try it. Finally after the first couple of years, it became common but most business owners still felt uneasy about allowing vaping, as some patrons would complain, worried that the second-hand vapor was possibly harmful.
Nowadays, many places and enforced public vaping bans, forcing us vapers to go outside with the rest of the smokers to take some draws of vapor. While in the UK, discussions keep rising about banning vaping in public spaces, the business owners remain divided as to allow it inside their business spaces. Many US states have already started enforcing the ban such as New York and Los Angeles. Certainly bad news for the vaping communities all over, but as with everything, time and long term studies will help shape the future of electronic smokeless vaporizer devices.
Not many vapers wish to have the right to vape absolutely everywhere. The places that do come to mind are bar pubs and nightclubs. The reason is simple, alcohol and nicotine go hand in hand and many times you will spot non-smokers having a cigarette while out drinking. Smokers will tell you just how much they enjoy a cigarette with their alcohol beverage. Not everyone drinks, but those that do know this very well.
It would be nice to be able to comfortably vape on the dancefloor or while sitting at the table sipping on drink with friends. Vaping in restaurants is not what these folks are looking for, but those who enjoy some nightlife on the weekend would certainly benefit from it tremendously in specific alcohol serving venues. Having to go outside to smoke separates you from your social party, but ex-smokers now using e-cigs are finding themselves forced to join the horde of smokers outside. If only we could vape in comfort and experience the combination of smokeless vaping and drinking together, all while never missing a beat of the night.
With the dawn of new regulations and bans, vape friendly bar lounges started to appear all over North America. These bar type venues offer space for vapers to lounge, vape at easy in the upmost comfort while enjoying a drink and maybe a sports game just like a traditional bar. Best of all, you get to go home without smelling like an ashtray. Of course, these venues also serve as a place to purchase vaporizers and e-liquid flavors as well. We think their great, but it doesn’t replace popular night spots.
For many, these public vaping bans are not bothersome as drinking at clubs and bars does not figure in their social activities. I myself have stopped going out and favor a night home with friends and a nice bottle of wine, where no one can tell me to put my e-cigarette away.
